Abstract

1387283 Litho printing plate XEROX CORP 25 Jan 1972 [1 Feb 1971] 3465/72 Heading G2H [Also in Division B6] A lithographic plate for use in a dry process is formed from an electro-photographic element having an ink-repellant layer provided by a silicone elastomer, hydrophobic toner particles being fixed to the layer to provide image area receptive to lithographic ink. The silicone elastomer may be used as a binder for the photo-conductive particles or as an overlayer on the photo-conductive layer. The elastomer is preferably an RTV polysiloxane with an adhesive release value less than 100 g per inch. The photo-conductive particles are preferably ZnO but others are specified, whilst the toner particles are styrene polymers or phenol-formaldehyde resins.
