Abstract
1458721 Printing masters XEROX CORP 10 April 1974 [13 April 1973] 15893/74 Heading B6C A planographic master is prepared by providing a layer of an at least partially uncured silicone gum, depositing a particulate image pattern, e.g. of toner, on the layer, curing the layer, and fixing the pattern thereto. The cured silicone is ink-repellant and the fixed pattern ink-receptive. No damping is required when printing with such a plate. The pattern may be fused into the layer. The silicone may be one which is curable at room temperature or one which is curable upon heating. The layer may be supported on a substrate, e.g. of metal, plastics or paper, and a cushioning layer of resilient material, e.g. of polyurethane, polyester or polyamide, interposed between layer and substrate.
