Abstract
PURPOSE:To effectively utilize the energy of laser light by forming the layer of graphite powder, etc., of a specific grain size on the surface of a material to be heat-treated in advance when the material is heat-treated by irradiation of laser light. CONSTITUTION:When a material is heat-treated by irradiation of laser light onto its surface, the layer of graphite powder or a mixture of graphite and an inorganic oxide, e.g., mica, alumina, etc., having an average grain size of 1mum or less, is formed on the surface of the material in advance. By such a simple preliminary surface treatment, an uniformly adhered coat is formed on the surface of the material to be heat-treated in order to effectively utilize the energy of laser light.
