Abstract
Ce procédé consiste à combiner un mélange contenant une matière non magnétique qu'il s'agit de séparer de la substance de fond d'un me ange avec une solution contenant un sel d'un élément magnétique, par exemple du chlorure ferrique. Les atomes magnétiques se fixent sur les sites disponibles des molécules de la matière non magnétique pour donner à cette manière une susceptibilité magnetique positive. Cette matière répond alors à l'influence d'un champ magnétique et se place dans une région où elle peut être analysée et récupérée. Pour séparer une matière possédant une susceptibilité positive faible ou négative, on la met en suspension dans une solution de sel magnetique et on place la suspension obtenue dans un champ magnétique. Ce champ attire la solution de sel magnétique et exerce sur la matière diamagnétique ou faiblement paramagnétique une force de répulsion analogue à une poussée.
