Abstract

The fitting (3), screwed to a gas bottle to connect it to a pipe, must be screwed tightly to prevent any leaks and so its angular position with respect to the bottle is indeterminate. The locking rings (6, 7) are designed to lock the fitting in any such angular position. This is achieved by using a double sided wedge (5) on each flat of the spanner hexagon of the fitting. These rings have tapered bores which match the taper of the wedges (5) so that when the rings are pulled towards each other by the screws (14), the fitting (3) is firmly gripped. The ring (7) has two lugs which enable it to be fixed to a bracket attached to the bottle.
