Abstract

Procédé de fabrication d'un produit façonné en silicate de calcium. Le procédé consiste à former une bouillie aqueuse de silicate de calcium hydraté de composés du groupe tobermorite ayant un << volume à l'état humide >> supérieur à 15 cm**3/g en chauffant une source siliceuse et une source calcaire dispersées dans l'eau de manière à les faire réagir; à façonner la bouillie aqueuse par moulage à l'aide d'un filtre-presse; et à la soumettre à la cuisson par la vapeur sous pression d'où il résulte la transformation du silicate de calcium hydraté de la tobermorite semi-cristalline ou quasi-amorphe en tobermorite cristalline ou en xonotlite ou de la tobermorite cristalline en xonotlite, le << volume à l'état humide >> étant donné par l'équation: Volume à l'état humide = V/W dans laquelle W représente le poids total de la source calcaire et de la source siliceuse et V représente le volume des composants solides après 24 heures présents dans le sédiment résultant de la bouillie aqueuse. Ce produit façonné est utilisé notamment comme produit de calorifugeage et comme isolant thermique.
