Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide gypsum phosphate reformed in the coagulability and the strength applicable for white beautiful interior building material free of organic component through washing thereof with a solution of mineral acid after a pulp washing by a solution of condensed phosphate.
CONSTITUTION: A wet by-product gypsum phosphate which was obtained by a hemihydration method of a bihydration-hemihydration method for production and filtration in the form of hemihydrate is subjected to a water washing sufficient to remove phosphate component attached. Then, it is slurried by a solution of condensed phosphate. For the phosphate, soda tripolyphosphate and soda pyrophosphate can be used. The concentration of the solution preferably ranges from 1 to 10%. The concentration of the slurry preferably ranges from 10 to 50% and the ideal treatment temperature ranges from 50 to 100°C. Then, the slurry is heated in a solution of mineral acid such as sulfuric acid and chloric acid. After a filtration and water washing, activated and reformed gypsum phosphate is produced. The temperature of the activation preferably ranges from 80 to 90°C.
