Abstract

L'invention est du domaine des cellules électrochimiques à électrolyte solide conducteur d'ions oxygène. Elle vise plus précisément une cellule de ce type comportant une électrode de transport d'oxygène 27 exposée à une source d'oxygène, un circuit de mesure de tension 46 surveillant la f.é.m. produite par la cellule et indicatrice de la teneur en oxygène de l'environnement surveillé ME, tandis que, si le taux d'oxygène surveillé tombe au-dessous d'un niveau où l'atmosphère est susceptible de sulfurer l'électrode détectrice 24 de la cellule, cette dernière se transforme en << pompe >> pour transporter l'oxygène de la source au moyen de l'électrode de transfert et de l'électrolyte 22 afin de maintenir une atmosphère oxydante protectrice au contact de l'électrode détectrice. Application à la protection des électrodes détectrices contre les dommages dus à un environnement sulfureux.
