Abstract
The differential of the heavy vehicle has separate epicyclic gearings bolted to each side. The output half shafts of the differential drive the sun wheel of the gearing and the outer ring wheel is coupled to the output shafts of the system. The axle has all its reduction near the centre, thus allowing the wheels or tracks to be fitted with variable track. The whole axle is compact and robust, with the reduction gearings accessible through bolt-on housings.
