Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé de polymérisation sous pression élevée de l'éthylène. Dans un mode de réalisation, on utilise au moins deux réacteurs autoclaves 1 et 2 reliés en série par une conduite comportant un échangeur de chaleur 10. Une proportion substantielle de l'éthylène est introduite dans la zone de réaction supérieure 3 du réacteur 1 où il est polymérisé en présence d'un agent d'amorçage approprié. Le produit de réaction passe ensuite dans la zone de reaction inférieure 4 puis dans l'échangeur de chaleur 10 où il est refroidi avant d'être introduit dans la zone de réaction inférieure 6 du réacteur 2. La portion restante de la charge d'éthylène est introduite dans la zone de réaction supérieure du réacteur 2. On obtient en utilisant un tel dispositif un meilleur rendement en polyéthylène ayant de meilleures propriétés optiques et une meilleure aptitude à la mise en oeuvre.
