Abstract

The sailing boat has an arrangement for controlling two sails, which includes a horizontal plate swinging around the mast (40), with chains (34) attached to a cross member (27) which has the spanker booms (26) attached by pivots (26a) to its ends. The centre of the cross member is attached to a pivot assembly (31) which gives a limited amount of play to allow the two booms to swing vertically. The pivot assembly has two angle pieces carrying uprights which are resiliently supported and attached to springs, and a hinge each side which allows the booms to swing when a rear wind is encountered.
