Abstract

A tube within the collector is linked to a storage vessel (2) by a return pipe (22). The flow pipe (21) from the vessel goes to a pump (3) which discharges through a two way valve (4) either to the collector or through a bypass (43) into the return (22). The valve is controlled by a differential thermostat (6) so that the water is bypassed when the temp. in the vessel has reached the temp. of the collector. The flow is such that the max. rise in temp. on a single passage through the collector is 1 deg.C. This ensures that energy is transferred very efficiently directly to the water.
