Abstract
A tubular ventilation duct forming an outlet in a wall for a room ventilation fan is fitted with a self operating flap system as a barrier against fire. The inner sleeve of the housing has a tube (10) fastened across it, near the outlet grid (3) and extending from it at right angles on the axis of the sleeve, is a shorter tube (17) actng as a strut. The longer tube acts as a hinge pin for two semicircular blades (11, 12) covered with asbestos (20) in the outside, and these blades are held in a retracted position by nylon cords (18) attached to the strut, which is slotted at its ends, so that it can be rotated to wind up the cord.
