Abstract

A heat processing plant for organic products comprises a processing or pasteurising chamber in which a batch of manure is brought to required levels of temp. and humidity which are then maintained for a selected duration, heating is by means of hot air drawn from a combustion chamber fitted with gas, e.g. butane or propane, burners, and fresh make-up air is drawn in through the combustion chamber at a rate regulated to balance foul air evacuated from the pasteurising chamber. Hot air drawn from the top of the pasteurising chamber, is recirculated by the fan which blows air from the combustion chamber into the bottom of the pasteurising chamber and water is sprayed directly into the chamber of the burners in the combustion chamber. Used for drying vegetables such as onions, but more esp. pasteurising manure for the culture of mushrooms. Thermal efficiency and operating economy are combined with precise control of temp. humidity and ventilation which can programme-controlled. 30% increase in output of mushrooms compared with previous systems.
