Abstract

A fabric is continuously washed in an org. solvent dried with a solvent bath through which the fabric is drawn, and sprayed with clean solvent to be dried with the help of an air curtain directed against the line of fabric flow. The final drying is effected by carrying the material on a permeable conveyor to be subjected to blown air and suction for the residual solvent to be extracted. The system allows tubular tricot fabrics etc. to be processed effectively and cheaply with up to 95% of the solvent and loosened solids being extracted after the washing stage, with about 50% of the solvent consumption of conventional processes.
