Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the dissipation of a detergent into the atmosphere and pollution of the atmosphere by adjusting the directions of a detergent ejection nozzle in a washing chamber and a dry air ejection nozzle in a drying chamber when washing the rolling oil on the surface of a rolled metallic strip material and drying said material. CONSTITUTION:A rolled metallic strip 2 stuck with rolling oil is sprayed with halogen type org. solvents contg. ethylene chloride and the like from nozzles 40a, 40b, 42a, 42b, 62a and 62b, etc. in the 1st washing device 4 and the 2nd washing device 6, whereby the top and bottom surfaces of the strip 2 are washed simultaneously. Next, the strip is introduced into a dryer 8, where it is dried by the drying gases blown from nozzles 66a, 66b, 68a, 68b, 70a and 70b, thence it is removed from the dryer. The directions of said nozzles 40a and 40b are set at a right angle to the advance direction of the strip 2 or are inclined 45 deg.. The directions of the other nozzles are inclined 45 deg. in the direction opposite from the advance direction of the strip 2. The nozzles in the dryer 8 are inclined similarly, whereby the production of losses on account of the detergent mists discharged from the device and the pollution of the atmosphere are prevented.
