Abstract

In the shrinking of fabric strips in the wetted state, using a bath of liquor or moist vapour, followed by expression of moisture, drying, fixing etc., the strip is maintained during the treatment floating on the treatment jet of the agent used by appropriate lifting and transporting movements. The jet is pref. directed against the strip with an intensity such that the latter is simultaneously traversed by the spray. Provides a non-aggressive treatment giving optimum results, which does not give rise to undesirable sec. effects, e.g., crease marks, longitudinal tensions opposing shrinkage, support structure preventing free shrinkage etc.
