Abstract
1362676 Dry cleaning BRUCKNER-APPARATEBAU GmbH 21 Oct 1971 [21 Oct 1970] 48875/71 Heading D1A [Also in Division F4] Textile fabrics which have been dyed, bleached or cleaned using a chlorinated hydrocarbon solvent (e.g. perchlorethylene) are initially dried with hot air and then brought into contact with water vapour to form an azeotropic mixture of solvent or water which is removed by drying with further hot air. The small amount of water condensing from the vapour onto the fabric forms the azeotropic mixture with residual solvent remaining after the initial drying, the azeotropic mixture boiling below 100‹C. The fabric is initially dried until the moisture content produced by the subsequent treatment with water vapour does not appreciably exceed the normal moisture content of the fabric. In an example, fabric is dyed, spin-dried, and then initially dried with hot air with the temperature being increased from 20‹ to 80‹C.
