Abstract

A sachet for food, tobacco etc. is made by advancing a flexible web so that it is folded over double by e.g. guides and cutting one or more longitudinal slits in it with cutters. A tape covered with press, sensitive adhesive is applied over the slit(s) and the web is heat sealed together at spaced posns. and cut to produce sachets having longitudinal slits from which the tape can be removed and replaced to allow removal of the contents of the sachet. The sachet doesn't have to be destroyed to remove some of the contents and can be resealed to keep the remainder of the contents fresh. The webs may be aluminium foil covered on one face with a thermosetting resin and the tape may be cellulose based.
