Abstract

The coupling consists of a sleeve with two cylindrical bores which fit over the tubes to be coupled. The tubes may be inserted up to the centre of the sleeve. The sleeve is machined on the outside with a standard taper thread and the coupling is tightened onto the pipes by means of taper nuts. Each taper nut is tightened up to a flange which prevents over tightening and deformation of the tubes. The central bellows allows movement of the pipes. The nuts may be prevented from loosening by locking notches in the flanges. The coupling is formed from halves welded together at the centre of the bellows.
