Abstract

The stator (1) is formed in two parts (1a) and (1b) with a transverse joint (2) and the inner surface (3) is spherical. The rotor (7) has three equally spaced cylinders with pistons (31) having connecting rods (32) attached to a common crank pin (33) of the crankshaft (12). Inlet and exhaust ports are provided in the stator walll. The end face of each cylinder is provided with two circular sealing rings (22). The rotor (7) is provided with lip seals (25) and (26) to seal the crankshaft chamber from the space (21) in which a depression is maintained by connecting it through the pipe (46) to the inlet manifold (43). The epicyclic gear train (15) and (16) drives the crankshaft (12) at three times the rotor speed.
