Abstract

The framework of reinforcing steel consists of longitudinal bars and kept apart by spacers shaped as stirrups. Each stirrup (4) is bent to a v shape with the open end downwards. At the open end there are horizontal pieces (5) with a hooked end (6). The vertical part of the stirrup is inclined at a small angle to the vertical. The tops of the stirrups are welded to an upper longitudinal bar (1). Another longitudinal bar (2) is welded to the centre of the horizontals. Further longitudinal bars can be welded to the upper and lower parts of the hooks (6).
