Abstract

The floor is constructed of prefabricated elements which are flexurally rigid both horizontally and vertically, each floor element being constructed as a U-shaped member. The U-shaped members are inverted and laid side 'to side' when in use, the depending arms of each U being formed with apertures so that steel rods may be passed through the assembly and then tensioned to hold the assembly together. Each floor element may be alternatively constructed as a double T with two vertical members depending from a horizontal member of points spaced from its edges. The floor elements are cast in moulds, vibrators being used to ensure compaction of the concrete.
