Abstract

1434054 Spacers in reinforced concrete structures W HUBNER 12 April 1973 [18 April 1972 28 Oct 1972 24 March 1973] 17769/73 Heading E1W Mesh reinforcement is spaced from a shuttering surface in cast in situ concrete structure by a plurality of spacers which each support the mesh of three triangularly spaced points. The spacers comprise at least two U-shaped yokes having legs 4 and mesh supporting struts 2. The yokes are secured together so that the struts extend generally in the same plane and in two dimensions in the plane. The yokes may be spot welded together at their legs or may be of tubular construction secured by clips engaging the ends of the tubes. Alternatively they may be integrally formed as a single part. The struts of the yokes may intersect and be secured at the intersection. The struts may be sinuous or curved. The yokes may be stamped, cast, moulded or bent, formed from steel or iron wire asbestos cement or plastics, may have height adjusting feet, may be of metal wire coated at least in their foot region with plastics or may be provided with plastics suckers as feet. The feet may be turned out or in of the yoke so as to grip the shuttering under load.
