Abstract
General compsn of the alloys is 12-27% Cr; 11-45% Ni; 5-13% Mn; 0.03-0.15% C; 0.03-0.30% N; 1.0-4.0% Nb; and/or 3-7% W; 0-3% Mo, bal Fe. The alloys may be used for general stainless steel application e.g. a certain compsn gives a good combination of corrosion resistance, strength and toughness over the range -196 to 816 degrees C or esp. as a filter for arc welding of alloys such as 21-6-9 and 20-45-5 Cr-Ni-Mn alloys. e.g. another compsn is used for welding 21-6-9 stainless steels.
