Abstract
The alloy contains (wt.%) 0.2-0.9 Mg, 0.2-0.9 Si and is not >0.7 Fe, and impurities. An initial ingot form is rolled to rod then drawn to wire before heat treating at 250-300 degrees C for 1-8 hrs. When the wire has a diameter of ca. 0.5 mm, the minimum period of heat treatment is >=1 hr. at 300 degrees C, or 4 hrs. at 250 degrees C. When the wire has a diameter of ca. 0.63 mm, the heat treatment is 3-5 hrs. at 250 degrees C, or 1-2 hrs. at 270 degrees C. Uniform pdt. obtained without an additional homogenisation stage. Good strength, ductility, electrical conductivity, resistance of flow, and surface appearance.
