Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture the titled conductor without lowering the electrical conductivity of an Al alloy material by heating the material contg. a small amount each of Zr, Fe, Si and Mg and/or Cu to a high temp. followed by quenching, cold reduction and heat treatment.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy material consisting of, by weight., 0.15W0.8% Zr, 0.05W 0.6% Fe, 0.04W0.20% Si, and one or more of 0.05W0.5% Mg and/or 0.005W0.5% Cu and the balance Al and ordinary impurities is heated at 500W645°C which is below the m.p. and quenched to dissolve the Zr, Fe, Si, Mg and Cu. After the solid solution treatment the material is cold reduced at ≥65% and heat treated at 250W400°C for 1W400hr to enhance the strength and electrical conductivity by preaging. The cold reduction is allowed to carry out after heat treating the quenched material.
