Abstract

1433316 Producing Cu-Ni alloys VEREINIGTE DEUTSCHE METALLWERKE AG 9 Aug 1974 [11 Aug 1973] 35292/74 Heading C7D Cu-Ni alloys are produced by smelting NiO with graphite in an electric arc furnace, adjusting the addition of graphite to give a melt containing 0À5 wt. per cent, heating the melt to 1700‹C and adding pre-heated Cu, e.g. at 900‹C. The Cu-Ni melt may be die-cast, cast into moulds, or vacuum treated, e.g. degassed, and cast. In the Example a 75 Cu-25Ni alloy is produced.
