Abstract

Prefabricated flooring components provided thermal and acoustic insulation, comprises channels made of an insulating plastics material such as expanded polystyrene for enclosing cast reinforced beams and providing external inclined faces which support other prefabricated blocks with projecting edges so that the joints between the components are braced against shear stresses. The plastics foam may be replaced by other insulating material, solid or hollow, foamed of dense. Plastics profiles are readily mfd. to toleranes providing close fitting joints. The channel elements can act as casting cavities for the concrete beams, eliminating need for separate shuttering.
