Abstract

The vessel has an annular ring fixed about its shell, supported by one or more circular flanges. An annular chamber is defined between the ring and shell and is partially filled with liquid coolant. Scoops integral with the chamber move liquid from lower part of chamber and spread it on the shell when the unit rotates. The ring is also the guide track for friction rollers supporting and driving the unit, and reinforces the vessel to prevent flexing, which damages refractory lining.
