Abstract

Converter for blowing an oxidising gas through a melt using a double feed tuyere, oxidising gas passing through the centre and liquid fuel-oil passing through the peripheral opening, in which the refractory coating of the converter and that of the bottom are made on a single unit with a firing operation. The tuyere casiing are inserted through the lining prior to firing such that they are fixed, the tuyeres being located after manufacture of the lining block. After refractory wear the whole lining is replaced as a block.
