Abstract

Basic carbonaceous, low iron, fired or unfired magnesite and dolomite refractory lining bricks with a lime/silica content of 1.6 and higher contain 1-5 wt.% finely divided Cr2O3. - For unfired bricks the Cr2O3 is first mixed with the fine fraction of a sinter material mixture. - For fire bricks the finely divided Cr2O3 is finely dispersed in the brick together with carbon bonding impregnating material, e.g. tar. - The bricks are used as basic metallurgical process vessel linings, esp. in acid convertors.
