Abstract

The linings and hearths of converters are built up of successive rammed layers of a mixture of fine grained dolomite and 30 per cent-70 per cent dolomite lumps within the size range 35-140 mms, the mixture also containing 5 per cent-25 per cent powdered additives and binding materials. The additives include chromite, ferrous and ferric oxides, talc, clay, silicates, graphite, cement, aluminous cement, bauxite and quartzite. The binding materials comprise organic or inorganic liquids or pastes e.g. tar, pitch, alkaline silicates or molasses.ALSO:The linings and hearths of metallurgical furnaces, converters or metal mixers are built up of successive rammed layers of a mixture of fine grained dolomite and 30 per cent- 70 per cent dolomite lumps within the size range 35-140 mms., the mixture also containing 5 per cent-25 per cent powdered additives and binding materials.
