Abstract

1281853 Refractory articles AKADEMIA GORNICZO-HUTNICZA 19 April 1971 [27 Jan 1970] 20051/71 Heading C1J Refractory articles are prepared by mining limestone or dolomite with CaCl 2 or chlorinated lime to give 2-20% CaCl 2 relative to CaO content, compacting and calcining the so formed conglomerates at 800-1600‹ C., crushing and slurrying with a medium containing CaCl 2 or Ca(OH) 2 to give a 2-20% CaCl 2 content on the final article, and forming articles by pressing extrusion or centrifuting. Sintering additive e.g. iron oxide, aluminium oxide, chromium ore, clay or slag may be added to its raw mix, and magnesia, carbon, 5-15% binding agent e.g. water glass, cement phosphate sulphate or organic polymer may be added to the crushed agglomerate. An anti-shrinkage agent e.g. Si, ferrosilicon, ferrochrome, SiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 may be added to the slurry, and the formed green articles may be impregnated with alcoholic CaCl 2 solution, and fired articles may be impregnated with tar or pitch and firing again to leave a carbonaceous residue of not greater than 3% by weight.
