Abstract
Vacuum-treated steel consisting of 0.015% max. (pref. 0.005 - 0.01%) C, 0.5% max. (0.25 - 0.35%) Mn, 0.05% (0.025%) P, 0.05% (0.025%), 0.01% Si, 0.003% Al, 0.02 - 0.15% (0.08 - 0.12%) O2, bal. Fe, is used for steel strips which are cold roller-clad with Al up to95% total deformation, without intermediate annealing; subjected to recrystallisation annealing above 540 degrees C and cold-worked in parts. Steel has chemical stability and bright metallic appearance of surface, and exhibits no dull dark surface defects caused by Fe2Al5-formation.
