Abstract

The substrate comprises a layer of open weave canvas, a light-weight non-woven fibrous layer and a binder which unites the fibrous layer to at least one side of the canvas. The canvas may be of rayon, polyamides, polyester or acrylic fibres. The non-woven fibres may be random or carded fibres of wool, hair, cotton, flax, rayon, polyamides, polyesters, polyurethanes or acrylics. The binder may be polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl acetate, acrylic resin, acrylic/vinyl copolymer of a thermosetting resin. The substrate may be coated with polyvinyl chloride plastisol, neoprene, butyl rubber or butadiene copolymers. The substrate is inexpensive, light, resistant and does not allow flow through it.
