Abstract

The fibres or filaments have improved tenacity (0.8 to 1.40 g/decitex) and compressibility (between 500 and 900%) and are produced by (1) melt spinning at high winding up speeds and relatively low temperatures the polyolefine with a low melting point index, preferably 1 to 10, and containing anti-oxidants, dyeing modifiers, delustreing agents, pigmetns, dyes, stabilizers, lubricants and/or dispersing agents, to give a filament a tenacity between 0.5 to 0.85g/decitex, (2) a subsequent crimp treatment of the resultant filament and (3) a final heat treatment of the crimped filament at temperatures between 50 degrees C and melting point of the polyolefine for more than 5 seconds to give a finished filament with a compressibility greater than 400% and tenacity 0.8 to 1.40g/decitex.
