Abstract

1276442 Conjugate filaments E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 5 Aug 1970 [26 Aug 1969] 37840/70 Heading B5B A crimpable conjugate polyester filament comprises a poly(1,4-cyclohexylenedimethylene terephthalate) component and a polyethylene terephthalate component in eccentric sheath-incore or side-by-side relationship, the poly(1,4- cyclohexylenedimethylene terephthalate) component being 15 to 70%, preferably 30 to 60% by weight of the filament. The filament is preferably crimped in a helical configuration having the polyethylene terephthalate component on the inside of the helix. In examples conjugate polyester filaments are prepared by melt spinning, quenched and formed into tows which are drawn at a draw ratio of about 4 while passing through a water bath at 90‹ C. and annealed at constant length by passage over heated rolls at temperatures between 120‹ and 160‹ C.
