Abstract

The noise generator has a fuselage fitted with hydrovanes at each end and a towing cable coupled to a swivel fitting. The nose is protected by a ring which can also be used for handling. The stability may be increased by linking the hydrovane to the swivel. The generator carries and is driven by a propeller. Two complementary noise generators comprise pistons which impact metal diaphragms (t). The pistons are driven by a helix whose shaft is coaxial with those of the pistons. A gear train enables the piston shaft to rotate more quickly than the screw.
