Abstract

1448036 Towed aerial targets DORNIER SYSTEM GmbH 1 Oct 1974 [28 Nov 1973] 42489/74 Heading B7W In order to facilitate repair and re-use a towed flying target comprises a basic metal skeleton structure 1, which, forward, supports a housing 3 for electronic equipment and, aft, a hollow tail structure housing a recovery parachute 5. Hit indicator microphones 6, 6<SP>1</SP> are mounted laterally on housing 3 which at its forward end carries a guide 8 for a tow cable 7. The structure is enclosed by a faired casing 14 formed in two halves 14<SP>1</SP>, 1411 fitted on to the structure from front and rear thereof and having a tail opening 16 for ejection of the parachute, tail fins 17, 17<SP>1</SP> being mounted on opposite sides of the casing. Antennae 9 are mounted on the structure 1 which encloses buoyancy apparatus. In an alternative construction the outer casing is cylindrical and fitted on the structure from one end thereof.
