Claims (8)

1. Förfarande för modifiering av ett kirurgiskt strukturelement, vilket framställts av en bioabsorberbar 5 polymer med en glykolesterbindning, sä att man pä ett kontrollerbart sätt päverkar bibehällandet av dess egen-skaper in vivo, kännetecknat därav, att ele-mentet underkastas en besträlningsbehandling i en sädan dos ooh under en tid, som är tillräcklig att pä ett kon- 10 trollerbart sätt minska tiden, som behövs för elementet att undergä sönderfall in vivo i fragment, vilka kan av-lägsnas frän eller transporteras bort frän kroppen utan absorption.
2. Förfarande för modifiering av ett kirurgiskt 15 strukturelement enligt patentkravet 1, kännetecknat därav, att besträlningsdosen är större än den som behövs för sterilisering.
3. Förfarande för modifiering av ett kirurgiskt strukturelement enligt patentkravet 1, känneteck- 20. a t därav, att besträlningsdosen överstiger 2,5 Mrad.
4. Förfarande för modifiering av ett kirurgiskt strukturelement enligt patentkravet 1, kännetecknat därav, att besträlningsdosen är 2,5 - 10 Mrad.

Förfarande för modifiering av ett kirurgiskt 25 strukturelement enligt patentkravet 1, kännetecknat därav, att sönderdelningen i fragment in vivo äs-tadkoms genom förlust av hällfastheten in vivo hos struk-turelementet, vilken förlust accelererats genom besträl-ningsbehandlingen, som inte förorsakar väsentlig förlust 30 av hällfastheten hos elementet före implantationen i kroppen, i jämförelse med ett icke-besträlningsbehandlat element.
6. Förfarande för modifiering av ett kirurgiskt strukturelement enligt patentkravet 1, känneteck- 35. a t därav, att polymeren innehäller ett inert fyllme-del i en mängd av högst cirka 40 vikt-%. 24 8021 3
