Abstract

Mejoras en guardapolvos para cojinetes de ejes de vehículos de tracción para cubrir la rendija axial entre un cubo metálico rotativo de una rueda y la brida de empuje de metal adyacente de un cojinete, que se dispone sobre el eje de la rueda para soportar el bastidor, relativamente estacionario, de un motor eléctrico, cuyo rotor está acoplado impulsoramente a la rueda, siendo el diámetro exterior del cubo de la rueda del orden de veinticinco centímetros o mayor, caracterizadas porque el guardapolvos comprende: a) una tira de material elastómero, teniendo suficiente longitud para ser envuelta apretadamente alrededor de la brida de empuje del cojinete de eje, donde forma una banda anular continua, excepto una sola rendija en extremos, que se encuentran, de la tira, teniendo dicha tira de material elastómero, suficiente anchura para que una porción de dicha banda anular se solape sobre el perímetro del cubo de la rueda, por lo que dicha banda anular cubre la rendija entre el cubo de la rueda yla brida de empuje del cojinete de eje; b) primeros medios para asegurar firmemente dicha banda anular a la circunferencia de la brida de empuje de cojinete de eje; y c) segundos medios para aplicar presión radial a dicha porción solapada de dicha banda anular con el fin de mantener dicha porción solapada en compresión entre dichos segundos medios y dicho cubo de rueda, comprendiendo dichos segundos medios un miembro de metal flexible de longitud fija, circundando dicha porción solapada y medios de abrazadera para sujetar liberablemente un extremo de dicho miembro a una parte de dicho miembro cercana a sus extremos opuestos, incluyendo dichos medios de abrazadera, unos medios accionables manualmente para aplicar ajustablemente, fuerza tangencial a dicho miembro circundante, por lo que dicho miembro ejercerá un importe deseado de presión radial en sustancia uniformemente alrededor de la circunferencia de dicha porción solapada de dicha banda anular, estando construidos dichos medios de abrazadera de tal manera y dispuestos de tal modo que la presión máxima obtenible sobre el perímetro de dicho cubo de rueda sea menor que aproximadamente cuarenta kilogramos por centímetro cuadrado.
