Abstract

1358525 Multidisc brakes GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 9 Jan 1973 [7 Feb 1972] 1057/73 Heading F2G A stationary or rotary disc 10 for a multidisc brake is formed of porous carbon-based material and has grooves 22 extending from the inner 18 to the outer periphery 16 and provided on one or both faces of the disc. The grooves 22 may be radial or as shown, at angle to the radius and the bases of the grooves may be squared, slanted or tapered. The depth of the grooves corresponds to at least the wearing surface of the disc. Notches 20 are provided for connecting the disc to a torque tube in the embodiment shown or to the wheel assembly. The discs are applied by a pressure plate to a back plate. The grooves of the first of the discs, which are alternately stationary or rotating in the disc brake, extend radially across the disc while the grooves of the other discs are angled relative to the radii.
