Abstract
Un método de fabricar artículos de vidrio óptico, que comprende hacer circular una mezcla de vapores, formadora de vidrio, a través de un tubo de substrato cilíndrico, hueco y alargado, calentar dicho tubo de substrato y la mezcla de vapores contenida en él, con un manantial de calor que se mueve con relación a dicho tubo de substrato en una dirección longitudinal para establecer una zona caliente dentro de dicho tubo de substrato, dentro del cual se produce una suspensión de material en partículas, de la cual al menos una porción se desplaza aguas abajo en donde al menos una porción de la misma pasa a descansar sobre una superficie interior de dicho tubo para formar un depósito sobre dicha superficie interior, caracterizado por hacer circular una corriente de gas, que normalmente no afectará desfavorablemente a las características del artículo óptico, a través de la región axial de dicho tubo de substrato en la zona caliente del mismo para confinar la circulación de dicha mezcla de vaporesa un canal anular, separado del eje longitudinal del tubo, de manera que esté adyacente a la superficie de tubo interior con el fin de aumentar de esta manera la eficacia de deposición de la reacción de dicha mezcla de vapores.
