Un procedimiento para la preparación de 4¿(6''-metoxi-2''-naftil)butan-2-ona, que consiste en someter a reacción de hidrogenación un compuesto de fórmula (I) **fórmula** donde Ar es un grupo 6-metoxi-2-naftilo , X e Y son cada uno de ellos un átomo de hidrógeno o juntos representan un segundo enlace entre los átomos de carbono a los que están unidos y R es un grupo tal que -CO2R representa un grupo éster convertible por hidrogenación en un grupo CO2H
