Abstract
Se realiza a una presión superior a la atmosférica un proceso de arrastre de vapor de dióxido de azufre de una solución acuosa tamponada en la que es absorbido en un proceso de desulfuración de gases de combustión. El procedimiento de arrastre a presión del dióxido de azufre da lugar sorprendentemente a una mayor economía de vapor de agua en comparación con el arrastre a la presión atmosférica y produce vapores de dióxido de azufre que pueden ser condensados directamente para formar un producto líquido con el agua refrigerante corriente, eliminando la necesidad de las operaciones de secado, refrigeración o compresión. Las elevadas temperaturas correspondientes a las altas presiones del vapor de agua también permiten utilizar económicamente las cabezas de la vasija de arrastre para operaciones de precalefacción. El arrastre a presiones de 50 a 65 psig (3,5 a 4,5 kg/cm2 manométricos) requiere solamente de un tercio a la mitad del vapor de agua requerido en el arrastre a la presión atmosférica. A presiones altas, los menores caudales de gas permiten utilizar un equipo de arrastre más compacto.
