Abstract
Procedimiento de preparación de ácido tereftálico, caracterizado porque comprende la oxidación sustancial de una mezcla líquida, consistente esencialmente en p-xileno, ácidpp-tolúico y agua como disolvente, en que la relación molar de ácido p-tolúico: p-xileno, está comprendida entre alrededor de 0,01 y alrededor de 100, y la relación molar de agua:ácido p-tolúico está comprendida entre alrededor de 0,04 y alrededor de 60, con un catalizador de oxidación, que consiste en por lo menos una sal de metal pesado, en condiciones de oxidación suficientes para formar el ácido tereftátlico.
