Abstract

Hydrofoil craft internal combustion engine power plant comprises a main engine 11 driving a main propeller 12 during foil borne operation, an auxiliary engine 19 driving auxiliary propeller 20 during displacement operation and the auxiliary engine is used to give additional drive to the main propeller during foil-borne operation. Auxiliary engine 19 gives this additional drive through a multiple input gear 29 arranged between main engine and main propeller and through a variable speed transmission 28 between the auxiliary engine and the multiple input gear.
