1293914 Propelling ships and torpedoes MESSERSCHMITT - BOLKOW - BLOHM GmbH 16 Dec 1969 [21 Dec 1968] 61287/69 Headings B7A and B7V [Also in Division F2] In a boat or torpedo having power source 1, reduction gear 2 and differential gear 3 drive the shafts 4, 6 by which screws 5, 7 are driven independently and non-simultaneously and so that screw 7 rotates at a higher speed than screw 5. In the drive shown the screws are coaxial and in tandem. In a hydrofoil craft, Fig. 3 (not shown), low speed screw 5 is situated above high speed screw 7. In a torpedo an explosive charge to remove the low speed screw can be provided between the hubs of the two screws.
