Abstract
A continuous casting plant comprises a mould 13, at least one tundish 7 and two carrier arms 2, 3 mounted to be independently pivotable about a vertical axis 1, and each carrying a ladle 4, 5. The ladle 5 can be swung through an angle v, from a ladle delivery position A, through a casting position C, to a further casting position B, whilst the ladle 4 can be swung through an angle u from position A through B to C. Tundishes 6, 7 (Fig. 3) are mounted beneath positions B and C respectively and are respectively pivotable about axes 8, 9 from rest positions R through positions K to a pouring position over the mould 13. The tundishes can also be moved backwards and forwards from their pivot axes 8, 9 by levers (17), raised and lowered on collars (24) and, when in position K, can be tilted for removal of slag. In Fig. 3, there is shown an emergency overflow ladle 16 and runners 14, 15 from the tundishes to the ladle 16.
